The Man With Unbreakable Skin… or is He?
Please feel free to watch me break down the question in the short video below:
Luke Cage is known in the Marvel Universe as the man with unbreakable skin, but is his skin REALLY indestructible? In order to figure out what can pierce Power Man’s flesh, we’ve got to look at how strong Luke Cage’s skin actually is.
Luke Cage’s skin is said to be as strong as titanium steel. If that is the case, then there’s one thing that can definitely cut through his skin. Snikt! That’s right Adamantium.
Adamantium
Adamantium is the sharpest (and one of the strongest) metals in the Marvel universe. Since adamantium can cut through titanium steel, it would slice through Luke Cage like a hot knife through butter. Such characters would have an upper-hand on Luke Cage:
- Wolverine
- X-23
- Lady Deathstrike
- Sabretooth (when his claws are laced in adamantium)
- Ultron
- Anyone using an adamantium weapon
Lasers
Adamantium isn’t the only thing that can cut Luke Cage though, he once had to have surgery on his internal organs. To be able to perform the surgery, his skin was pierced by the use of high powered lasers. Now we’re talking some serious lasers, lasers that can break titanium steel. Your average, run-of-the-mill, comic book hero laser probably wouldn’t do harm to Power Man.
Extreme Brute Force
In the past, only a handful of characters have made Luke Cage bleed. One of those characters was Iron Fist. Danny Rand used a charged up Iron Fist punch which left Cage bloody and unconscious. Characters with enough strength and extreme force such as Iron Fist or The Incredible Hulk can make Cage bleed.

Hello I just read your article on what could cut Luke cage’s skin. Basing this article on the statement that Luke cage’s skin is as strong as titanium steel seems like a strange metric to take as it has also been said that Luke Cage’s skin is unbreakable. Are there any specific comic book references that you could use to help prove the validity of that statement?
