“What If I Become The Next Ra’s Al Ghul”

Arrow comes back with “The Offer” right where it left us last week. Ra’s offers Ollie to be the his heir as the next Ra’s Al Ghul! Immediately after Ra’s’ gracious offer, he beings showing Ollie around the temple, to which we see…. THE MOTHER FUCKING LAZARUS PIT! Finally, what we have been waiting for this entire season is revealed (subtly.) In a show that likes to keep itself grounded, I love the way the Lazarus Pit was introduced. Ra’s was quoted saying “these waters have permitted me to live way beyond my time.” For those who may question if this is the true Lazarus Pit or not, Ra’s washes a lacerated hand in the pit later in the episode, only to have his hand miraculously healed once he takes it out. Fucking awesome!

He's got alot to think about

He’s got alot to think about

Initially Oliver declines the offer and Ra’s lets him leave as a sign of good will. Later in the episode, Oliver’s mind keep changing as he struggles to decide whether to accept the offer. For as much good Oliver has done for the city, he feels so much more could be done if he were the next Ra’s Al Ghul. At the end Oliver remembers why he started the vigilante gig in the first place and officially declines Ra’s’ offer, showing that even Oliver Queen can still be tempted, but always makes the right moral decision.

As been told by both Maseo and Merlyn, Ra’s doesnt make offers, he makes demands. Ra’s now appears to be framing the Arrow in attempt to get Oliver to accept his offer (this may be why we see The Atom fighting Oliver next week.) I believe that Oliver has too much pride in himself to give into Ra’s this quickly, and we will see some intense Ra’s fights in the future.

Speaking of Starling City PD, Detective (I’m sorry, Captain now) Lance sees The Arrow since the first time he received news of Sarah’s death, and boy he wasn’t happy. Lance is cutting all ties with Arrow, so it looks like we are going back to our season 1 relationship between the two. Since Ra’s is now running around the city disguised as Arrow, don’t be surprised if we seem some of the police force going up against Arrow as well.

Oliver Sorry captain

Sorry Detective…. I mean, Captain

If it’s one thing that doesn’t make sense it’s the way Team Arrow keeps rescuing Malcolm Merlyn. The man is pure evil. He killed Sarah and yet still Oliver is treating him as a friend. Ollie’s decision emotionally drains Thea (as expected it would) and in the end she goes running back to Roy for comfort (yeah Roy!) This was something else most of the viewers had been waiting for after they had initially broken up last season, or at least, I know I had.

Laurel More Training

Laurel Needs More Training

There were two other small but important points that occurred during the episode. Nyssa and Laurel befriend each other, and we see Shadow in the flashback. Nyssa had left Nanda Parbat after Ra’s decision to choose Oliver as his heir. She is seen walking with Laurel at the end of the episode as they go to grab a bite to eat and bond about each others daddy issues. Could this mean Nyssa is going to take Laurel under her wing? It would make sense. Sarah got her training from Nyssa, and Nyssa is top of her class assassin. If Thea can learn to kick ass in only half a year, I don’t see why Laurel can’t? Then we see Shadow in Oliver’s flashback, but was it REALLY shadow? Doubt it. It could be her twin sister or some drug Ollive may have been exposed to. If it were Shadow, I think it would have come out during the war with Slade in season 2. If, I’m wrong, then that is a stupid plot device plain and simple.

The Decision

Fantastic episode for Arrow this week. We saw tremendous amounts of key stories excel. The viewer got what they wanted at the Lazarus Pit was finally revealed, and Roy gets back together with Thea. This was a change in pace from the last few episodes and a good one at that! Next week we get the Suicide Squad back, and those episodes are always fun. Here’s to hoping Arrow keeps up the good work!
