Everybody Ate Chris
(Spoilers)
This episode, entitled “Spend,” took us through several intense stories. Just looking away for a second and you could have missed something. The damn Alexandrians just don’t get it and its surprising they lasted this long already doing things the way they do.
We got a closer look into the residents of Alexandria’s true colors. Nicholas left his friend Aiden to die, as well as Glenn and Noah (RIP Noah.) We also saw the entire construction crew about to leave one of their own to the walkers. Had it not be for the beast himself, Abraham. It appears they had survived this long simply by leaving their friends for dead when trouble approaches, and running away. I guess it has been working for them, but it’s not very heroic…
While the most recent episodes have been primarily focusing on Rick, Carol, Daryl and Michonne, this episode focused mainly on some characters who have been recently quiet. Abraham took on an entire walker horde practically by himself, and got promoted to head of the building crew. Eugene finally manned up, saved an unconscious Tara, and took out a couple walkers on the way. Then there was Gabriel (Father Dickhead.) Gabriel wouldn’t be alive had it not been for Rick and friends, and he shows just how grateful he is by telling Deanna that they are bad people and aren’t to be trusted (what an asshole!) Thankfully Maggie had overhead, so you know he’s got some righteousness coming his way.
Rick had another confrontation with Pete, Jessie’s confirmed alcoholic boyfriend. It took us a couple of episodes to put it together. He’s always drunk and now based on what Sam had told Carol, he’s violent as well. This needed to happen and now gives us a reason for us to hate him. At the end of the episode Carol tells Rick that he’s going to have to kill him (a little harsh maybe?)
In all honesty, Rick’s group IS taking over the town, but so what? Look at the idiots they have running it right now. It’s a miracle they’ve lasted as long
as they did. Rick and friends is way more qualified to run the town than anyone else there. Not to mention they’ll also toughen up these wussies and turn them into real men (and women!) It’s too late now. I would kind of like to see Deanna attempt to kick them out. Do you really think they’d all just walk away calmly? Nahhh. Rick knows what he’s doing, and (for now) they aren’t going anywhere.
