Warning Spoilers
Dark Arrow
If you’re like me, then after last week’s cliffhanger, this week went by extremely slow! Ra’s hits Oliver hard with his most recent method of persuasion, attempting to kill Thea. The only way Oliver can save his sister is to travel to Nanda Parbat and dip her into the Lazarus Pit. Yes that’s right, the mother fucking Lazarus Pit! No more dancing around it, we got full confirmation this is the bath all of us fanboys have been looking for!
This episode really showed us Stephen Amell’s acting range. Oliver is concerned for the well being of his sister and must make a decision fast. Finally Oliver gives in. Ra’s wins…. for now. It doesn’t happen often that we see the bad guy coming out on top, and while the season isn’t over yet, that is the direction the show is appearing to take (judging by the Flash season finale pictures of Ollie in assassin getup.)
While we have all been waiting and waiting for the Lazarus Pit confirmation, we’ve also been waiting and waiting for Olive and Felicity to finally get it on, and they did…. oh boy they did! Almost immediately after dumping Ray and taking his private jet halfway across the world (poor Ray btw,) it becomes apparent to Felicity that this may be her only chance to get intimate with Oliver. After a long talk with Ra’s that supplies us with some Ra’s back story, Felicity takes her chance and the two have a nice CW softcore porn scene (seriously, that scene felt longer than usual TV sex scenes.) Oliver knew it was his last time to say goodbye as well and took his chance too, this may be the last time the two see each other, no holding back.
Felicity has other plans tho and attempts to drug Oliver and take him back to Starling. Oliver comes to during the attempted escape and refuses to leave, knowing this is the only way everyone can be safe. Good acting performances all around in this episode. The chemistry between Felicity and Oliver is still incredible and finally we get to see their feeling fully expressed for each other.
The flashbacks were full of action this week, but still just seem so disconnected from the season. I get what they are trying to do to build up Maseo’s charcter, but overall I find myself bored when they are on. Although sometimes entertaining, they’ll never hold a candle to the Slade island flashbacks. I’m still not sure where they are going with the flashbacks either. In this episode it was revealed Akio had died in the past, yet we still don’t see it in the flashback. Also are they really trying to implement the Creature Commandos? At times it feels like they are, but I can’t see that fitting in with Arrow’s serious tone.
In the end, Oliver finally joins and he looks badass! The series is going into uncharted territory and anything can happen, which is good because this season has had its share of lacking episodes.
The Decision
Great episode. We were treated with some top notch performances by the entire cast. We got a small backstory on Ra’s and Oliver looks more badass than ever! While the flashbacks were better, they still aren’t getting the job done (for me at least.) We finally get confirmation of the Lazarus Pit and Olicity got it on! The show is treading into some unknown territory which is what i think it needs in order to keep it fresh. only a couple more episodes now and I can’t wait to see what’s in store!
